Nepal casino Close over licensing dispute : All the casinos in Nepal have been declared illegal as none of them obtained new operating licences by the deadline which expired on Friday. Casino royalty dues is now expired: The due date has ended to pay Casino royalty to government.The Government had extended deadline last time to renew new license. The Association has met minister and asked him to rollback the decision to close casino.
The dispute between the government and the country’s 10 casinos dates back nearly a decade and has featured countless ultimatums and deadlines, all of which the casinos have ignored. As a result, The Tourism Ministry has written to the Home Ministry to shut down all the gaming houses from Sunday. The Finance Ministry has also been informed of the decision.Casinos owe a total of Rs 1.07 billion to the government. Their pending dues date back to as early as fiscal year 2005/06, according to sources at the ministry of tourism.
